Welcome to our Grade 9 program at North View Collegiate,
offering an exciting array of courses that provide a strong
academic foundation while nurturing personal growth and
development. In partnership with the North View curriculum,
we are dedicated to equipping students with the skills and
knowledge they need to excel in high school and beyond.
Beyond academics, our Grade 9 program is designed to help
students discover their passions and interests outside the
classroom.
We offer a wide array of extracurricular activities, clubs,
and sports, allowing students to engage, connect, and grow
outside of their academic pursuits.
Grade 9 Curriculum
Grade 9 Mathematics lays the foundation for critical mathematical skills and problem-solving. This course covers topics such as algebra, geometry, and numerical operations, equipping students with essential mathematical knowledge for their academic journey.
Grade 9 Science explores the wonders of the natural world through hands-on experiments and real-world applications. Covering biology, chemistry, and physics, this course sparks curiosity and encourages students to investigate the world around them.
Grade 9 English focuses on enhancing communication skills, both written and oral. Students explore literature, improve reading comprehension, and develop their writing abilities. Through the study of literary works and creative writing, students refine their language arts skills.
Grade 9 Geography explores the dynamic world of geography, covering topics like natural phenomena, human interactions with the environment, and global issues. Through inquiry and research, students gain a deeper understanding of our planet’s complexities.
Grade 9 Business Technology introduces students to essential business concepts and technology applications. Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, students gain skills in entrepreneurship, digital media, and computer applications
Grade 9 Healthy Active Living focuses on physical well-being and a healthy lifestyle. Through physical activities and health education, students develop a holistic understanding of fitness, nutrition, and wellness.
Grade 9 French immerses students in the French language, emphasizing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through engaging language experiences, students build a strong foundation in French, promoting effective communication and an appreciation for Francophone culture.
Grade 9 Electives (Choose 1)
The Grade 9 Visual Art course offers students a creative outlet to explore their artistic talents. Through various artistic mediums and techniques, students express themselves, develop their artistic skills, and gain an appreciation for the world of visual arts.
In the Grade 9 Music course, students embark on a musical journey, exploring the elements of music and various musical traditions. Through hands-on experiences and musical performances, students enhance their musical literacy and appreciation.
The Grade 9 Drama course immerses students in the world of theater and performance. Through improvisation, script analysis, and dramatic productions, students develop their acting skills and gain a deeper understanding of the dramatic arts.
Learning Strategies supports students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or those who are exempt from the French course requirement. This course helps students develop effective learning strategies and study skills to ensure academic success.
